The Ashville Viking Festival is held on the last weekend in April every year. It is held in the Ashville public park next to the elementary school. our official website, run by our official leaders, DenMom and Eddval, is located at www.ashvillevikingfest.com and has vendor and event information.
We have been enjoying the ability to sail the Norseman a very nice ship of our acquaintance, our Saxon Market has grown as have our entertainers. We have bards and conjurers and jugglers and people who make you say ''whaaat??????'' Anything is possible in the Saxon Market, including but not limited to~ demonstrations of all manner of crafts, displays of beautiful art work, fanciful wares, and really handy stuff.

On this day, December 31st, 1149, the brave women of Tortosa raised arms to protect the lives of their families and fellow countrymen. When others thought to surrender, these few souls chose not to submit to the defeat by the Moors. Dressed in men's clothes, these women road forth and engaged these soldiers that sought their submission in battle. Because of their gallantry they where able to raise the siege placed on the town and the "Order of the Hatchet" was created.
It is honor of these brave women that this group has been created. It is to celebrate women who are both strong in mind and in body, whose belief in one self shines as a beacon for all to see. This is a meeting place for woman of honor and of strength, who follows the olde code of the knights and carries it within her heart. The Hatchet Sisterhood if for all of those who contain the warrior spirit and who refuse to go gently into this goodnight.
